Program Notes:
Is it mine this figure of shoulders fading into the autumn rain?A haiku penned by the renowned 17th-century Japanese poet Matsuo Bashō portrays a mental picture of someone observing their own demise, experiencing detachment from their physical form and disconnection between self and body. The work inspired by this haiku aims to provide an auditory interpretation of Bashō's poem while incorporating the well-known Baroque motif "la follia" in a complex manner. The recurring yet never fully recognizable traces of Follia symbolize the dissociative aspect present within this imagery.
