Program Notes:
The "Illusion of Return" is an extended composition of harmonies that aims to mimic the notion of a deceptive homecoming. In more straightforward terms, it's about being unable to return - what seems like a repetition in reality is merely a semblance or variation from the past which our minds attempt to make sense by organizing into patterns. The piece begins with a minor 6th interval that evolves into an orchestral outburst at its center and then creates the impression of reverting back; however, despite sounding similar, it has transformed from a minor 6th into a minor third instead. Overall, this entire work unfolds within semi-symmetrical structure.
