Ãb-bāng in Persian means "water song." The piece's first concept was to obtain a microtonal writing for guitar, that has been achieved by Scordatura, where two strings must be tuned a quarter-tone lower. The axis of symmetrical structure is a whole central section with some hints to an Iranian musical scale called "Shūr"
